I love the fresh beginnings of a new year. I am absolutely one of those people who goes all gungho into January only to fizzle out around spring time. I use to obsessively make my New Year’s Resolutions. One year I made 101 resolutions, and while I completed over half of my list, it was stressful and not really all that fun. Through the power of anxiety meds my frantic list making didn’t really kick in like usual on December 31st. I made a few manageable resolutions.
Anyways, the reason I’m writing today is because today starts the Nerd Fitness Challenge that I signed up for 🙂 I haven’t run since my May marathon. In fact, I have been sitting in a pool of self loathing and food since then. I’m not sure you know this, but it’s entirely possible to be a really unhealthy vegan. My main goal in this challenge is to complete a half marathon by July of this year with a 5K under my belt in the next 6 weeks. I’m upping my fruits, veggies, and water intake which I hope will boost my energy as well.
What I really like about Nerd Fitness is that it’s not all fitness based. They encourage you to come up with a life goal too and for me that’s to get more involved in the communities I want to be a part of. I’m planning on going to a meetup at Otherworld’s over the next month, something largely out of my comfort zone but I know I will enjoy once the initial anxiety wears off.
