Makeup and Mental Health

Remember January’s goal? Taking better care of myself and getting into a morning/night routine? I started wearing makeup and going to bed at a decent hour. I started showering nightly and fixing my hair. Well, I read this article How Makeup Can Affect Depression and Anxiety. I found it so interesting because it’s something I have definitely experienced in the last couple of months. Having this routine has made me get up early. I start getting ready for work earlier. I love nothing more that moisturizing…mostly because my Tarte Rainforest of the Sea moisturizer smells heavenly 🙂 And I’ve been working on the wingtip eyeliner look, which I’m definitely still perfecting. Putting on makeup is a relaxing way for me to start the day. I put some good music on, sit and look in the mirror not completely hating what I see.  I feel so much better throughout the day too, put together. On top of the makeup application, I also apply my favorite new perfume Elizabeth and James Nirvana. I feel a complete sense of confidence when I’ve completed my morning routine.

Anyone else experience this? It was really interesting to read proof that this routine really has been helping my anxiety and depression as opposed to just feeling that it does.

Check out a couple of the smell good products I love! ❤ (I’ve provided links above)
